  • Day 229 – AQUARIUM NET

If you have a fish tank or some sort of aquatic creature then this contraption needs no explanation. This is an aquarium net and while it has been used to scoop (sadly) many deceased neon tetras and guppies from murky waters, it is now used in our African dwarf frog ecosystem. We “won” these two frogs in a school science class raffle and they have called our hallway home for about 9 months. I cleaned the tank today so the net got used to scoop up the random bits of grossness.

  • Day 228 – NAME BRACELET

My daughter went to a birthday party for a friend at the Little Words Project store and had a blast. They sat at a private table with pink balloons and each girl got to make two bracelets. The gold coin charm and the memories from the day make it way more special than a simple beaded bracelet.

  • Day 227 – CRAYON

We still have SO many random boxes of crayons around the house even though they haven’t been used for years. This one is the Crayola Red Violet and it is in pristine condition. Nothing reminds me more of back to school prep than the smell of a crayon. I hope little kids still use crayons in school, especially to practice their letters. They are probably using their finger on an Ipad instead… don’t get me started.

  • Day 226 – BUMBLE BEE

Took a trip to visit my dad today with the kids and we enjoyed looking at his amazing garden. The bees were out in full force and I captured a picture of this bee, which my phone has identified as a “common eastern bumble bee”, going to town on a cone flower. The bees were everywhere! Very cool to see the pollinators dong their thing. I included the photo so you can see it in color which is way better.

  • Day 225 – SANDWICH BAG

School is just days away and my mind has turned to school lunch preparations. I was just browsing Amazon for more ice packs and checking my stock of various sized sandwich and snack bags. I always debate the economics of single portion prepackaged chips versus the big bag and buying sandwich bags. Clearly, the latter is the way to go from a cost perspective but what about variety? These are the things that occupy my mind.

  • Day 224 – PRESCRIPTION BOTTLE

<Sigh> The prescription bottle. We all have them at one time or another. My wish for you is that they are few.

  • Day 223 – BENDY STRAW

My daughter and two of her friends had a root beer float stand at the end of our driveway yesterday and so bendy straws were top of mind. The components of a root beer float are many…. cup, spoon, straw, ice cream (offered in both vanilla and chocolate) and root beer. And napkins and wet wipes. It was a hot sticky profitable mess.

  • Day 222 – COMB

This is my Conair black comb. I probably shouldn’t admit this but I have had this comb since college. That’s about 27 years. It has traveled through my wet hair over 7,000 times. I clean it regularly. Why would I ever have a need to replace it? Kudos Conair, you make a damn good comb.

  • Day 221 – DR. MARTENS

These Dr. Martens black patent leather combat boots came to me from my niece. She outgrew them so I became the lucky recipient. While I have only worn them a handful of times, I always look at them and think I should wear them more. I’m just not that cool.
