  • Day 63 – CROCK POT

I currently have a 3 lb. hunk of chuck roast beef simmering in the Crock Pot with beef broth, spices and balsamic vinegar and the aroma has taken over the whole house. These days are so hard for the dog because drool literally drips from her mouth all afternoon and I have to dab her chin with a paper towel. I am pleased to say that I have more control over my salivary glands.

  • Day 62 – PICKLEBALL PADDLE

Have you gotten into the pickleball craze yet? I’m all in. My team “Closet Dinkers” won first place in our adult pickleball league at the park district…. the fact that we were 15-20 years younger than our competitors had absolutely nothing to do with it.

  • Day 61 – CHERRY TOMATOES

This should be done during the summer when cherry tomatoes are in season but alas, we have Mexico. These are actually called “flavor bombs”. A bit dramatic. They are good but not really worthy of the flavor bomb description. I’d call them “nothing specials”. I do appreciate that they come with the little vine.

  • Day 60 – ICE CREAM SCOOP

I’m posting this while dodging ping pong balls being launched by the Science Olympiad air trajectory team that is practicing in my hallway. I must admit I am very distracted but I drew the ice cream scoop!

  • Day 59 – STEERING WHEEL

I spend a lot of time in the car. Not driving really but waiting. Two days of waiting in the pick up line for school produced this drawing of my steering wheel. The light was different on both days (grrrr….) so the shading makes zero sense but the overall idea is there. If you think it looks like a giant salted Bavarian pretzel, I see that too.

  • Day 58 – DUMBBELL

This dumbbell is kind of like the fancy shoe…. doesn’t get out much and when it does it goes right back in the closet. My dumbbell set is strewn about the house. The 3 lb. ones are in the bedroom, the 5 lb. ones are in the basement holding down components of Hot Wheels tracks and the 8 lb. ones are weighing down a piece of wood to create a cantilevered shelf in my son’s room.

  • Day 58 – STRAWBERRY

How lucky are we that we live in an age when you can have ripe strawberries year round. Whether they are from Mexico or Florida or from the road side stand freshly picked during the summer, we are lucky. You know who else is lucky? Our dog. Every morning when I cut up strawberries for lunches, she gets to eat the tops. Yep, leaves and all.

  • Day 57 – TIDE

I literally touch a bottle of Tide laundry detergent every single day. No exaggeration. And as the children grow, so does the size of their clothing and therefore the volume of laundry. And it’s winter so we have layers and layers. Laundry and more laundry. Tide and more Tide. Every single day.

  • Day 56 – STICK LIGHTER

How did we ever light anything before the stick lighter? Like a pillar candle that is burned halfway down? Or a candle with multiple wicks? Once you light two wicks you burn yourself in the process of attempting to light the third. Or a campfire? Or a birthday candle? I suppose there is the LONG match but a match comes with the sulfur smell. I’m sold on this. 100%
