  • Day 159 – HIGHLIGHTER

The middle school supplies are returning home and most are untouched. An unopened package of loose leaf paper…. why they even require this anymore is beyond me since schools insist everything is done on a computer. Same for the Sharpie highlighter…. what are we highlighting? Colored pencils, untouched. Pens, like brand new. Markers, fresh as day 1. Take us back 30 years please…dittos and transparencies and spiral notebooks. <sigh>

  • Day 158 – NECKLACE

Very late for my post today…. I fear the summer may be a challenging time to fit in the drawings but I did squeeze it in. After the kids got back from the pool I saw my daughter’s sweet heart locket and necklace on her dresser and grabbed it to draw while she was in the shower. And now I’m being summoned to the bathroom….

  • Day 157 – GERANIUM

Geraniums are one of my favorite flowers and they aren’t just red anymore. I personally think they look the best when they are just starting to bloom and they still have several buds waiting to explode. It’s just the beginning of the show.

  • Day 156 – STARBUCKS

I recently started drinking Starbucks cold brew coffee in the afternoons. I buy the big container of it from the grocery store, add a little half and half and top with some cinnamon caramel oak milk cold foam creamer. It has quickly become my new Fika addiction. So I thought, oh, I’ll just draw the logo. Very difficult with a soft white pencil that is not forgiving to erase on black paper. Makes me think how easy this would have been to recreate on the computer where you can create perfect circles, erase with ease and overlap shapes and patterns. The end result is a a twin-tailed siren that appears to be winking and is a bit more rotund than the original. Aren’t we all…aren’t we all.

  • Day 155 – WATER BOTTLE

Summer days are here and hydration is key. The snack station at home is well stocked with water bottles for the unexpected kids that pop in for refreshments. All are welcome, just PLEASE finish your drink. Pet peeve is seeing water bottles or Gatorades or juice boxes littering the basement that have barely been consumed. And remember not to leave your plastic water bottle in a hot car. It’s a bad thing, trust me.

  • Day 154 – AMAZON PACKAGE

I pulled this out of the recycling bin this morning after my lame attempt at drawing a Q Tip. This Amazon package arrived yesterday and the brown craft paper envelope included 2 paperback books and an 8 oz. tube of advanced moisture therapy lotion. I never knew how many QR codes and bar codes were on these packages until I spent 20 minutes drawing it.

  • Day 153 – SCRABBLE TILES

You may think this is a lame word.. DRAW. Only worth 8 points. But there IS a scenario where this little 4 letter word could earn you 30 points…. Double Letter Score on the D and Triple Word Score on the whole thing! We recently played Scrabble as a family and the non words that people try to sneak through are always the best.

  • Day 152 – ROKU REMOTE

This is the Roku remote from the basement and I must remember to return it. I really don’t like drawing things with buttons… they are very unforgiving.

  • Day 151 – NIKE VISOR

I am very pleased with today’s drawing. Ranks up there in my view with the throw pillow and the baseball mitt. This is my orange Nike visor. I’ve had it for probably 20 plus years. My son just wore it last weekend to play his first round of golf on a real course and so it now has even more meaning. I drew this yesterday while sitting outside on the patio in the sun as it was a beautiful day. I didn’t realize until now how much the environment contributes to the success of the drawing. Nike, feel free to repost 🙂
