  • Day 3 – SCISSORS

If this were in color you would see that these are the traditional orange handled Fiskars. The best scissors around. They always seem to go missing though and oddly enough, the only pair I can find when I need some in the kitchen are the rik rak scissors. When we cut down the potato chip bag they have a lovely rik rak edge. Anyway, these were fun to draw and I felt they deserved to go with their comrade TAPE from yesterday.

  • Day 2 – TAPE

Our tape dispensers just went through the battle of Christmas and the remaining soldier is missing it’s shield…. the Scotch Tape branded plaid label. This did make the task of drawing it that much easier. It was a good Christmas tape, thank you for your service.

  • Day 1 – SALT

First and foremost, happiest of new years to you! Today I begin my new endeavor of a daily drawing of an ordinary, everyday object. Half of me thinks this will last a month, another part of me thinks I won’t make it through a week but there is a sliver of me that believes I can do it every single day. Today, I chose to focus on the sliver.

And I want to explain the black paper. I was given the task of purchasing the class holiday gift for my daughter’s 4th grade teacher in December. A job I really do love. He is an artist and loves to draw so I went to our local art store and bought him a sketchbook and a pack of this amazing black sketch paper. I kept thinking about that black paper all month and right after Christmas, I came up with this new plan and I would draw exclusively on black paper with white colored pencils.

Fast forward a week and I was sitting at the dining room table wondering what to draw and there in front of me was my mealtime companion…. the salt shaker. My favorite spice, condiment, ingredient, sodium chloride compound? What is it. The best…. that’s what it is. I put it on salad, pizza, buttered toast, all of it.

Day 1, done and dusted (stole that line from a Peloton instructor).
